Parent-Taught vs. Driving School

So you have a teenager between the ages of 15 and 17, and it's time for them to start to learn how to drive! This can be an exciting and also a challenging time.

The big fork in the road you are faced with at the very beginning of the process is whether you are going to do "parent-taught" driver's education (PTDE), or send your child to a driving school. To help you with that decision, I've put together a comparison of key aspects of the parent-taught vs. driving school options below. If you choose to go the parent-taught route, I will be happy to come alongside you and provide however much professional behind-the-wheel instruction as you might like (though professional instruction is not required for PTDE). See this page for how to get a learner's permit for parent-taught driver's ed. And if you  choose the driving school option but might want to invest in your teen's future by getting them a bit more professional instruction beyond what the school provided, I can help with that, too. And no need to come to me; I come to you!

Please get in touch if you have any questions, and I will be happy to do my best to help you!
