Most new (and a lot of veteran!) drivers focus too close in front of their vehicle and fail to see things farther ahead that they might need to respond to until it is too late. Look FAR AHEAD along your path of travel (and look THROUGH curves) for that traffic slowdown, piece of truck tire in the road, lane closure, and the like!
